INADEQUATE EYELASHES?

There is only prescription treatment approved by the FDA for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller, and darker. It is available at select California Skin Institute practices, please call to see if your local office offers it. Although the precise mechanism of action of the active ingredient (bimatoprost) is not known, research suggests that the growth of eyelashes occurs by increasing the percent of hairs in, and the duration of, the anagen (or growth) phase. Lashes can grow longer, thicker and darker because bimatoprost can also prolong this growth phase.

Am I a candidate for this treatment?

Women over the age of 16 wishing to improve the length and volume of their eyelashes usually do very well with this treament. Some people find they’re allergic to certain ingredients in Latisse, so we’ll check that before starting you on the at-home portion of your treatment. Less than four percent of patients experience any adverse reactions.
